BACKGROUND: The City’s Traffic Control Division maintains more than 170 traffic and pedestrian signals citywide using $85,000 in the Division’s operating budget (approximately $500 per signalized intersection per year). These funds are used for the purchase of the various replacement traffic signal system components necessary for the safe and efficient operation of our traffic signals.

On July 9, 2011, a traffic collision occurred on Lindsey Street east of Berry Road resulting in damages to conduit containing fiber optic cable. The responsible driver was identified and the insurance company information was obtained for collection purposes. City staff repaired the damaged portion of the conduit.

On March 9, 2012, a traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Rock Creek Road and 24th Avenue NW resulting in damages to one of the traffic signal poles at the intersection. The responsible driver was identified and insurance company information was obtained for collection purposes. City staff repaired the damage to the pole.

On March 19, 2012, a traffic collision occurred at the intersection of State Highway 9 and Chautauqua Avenue resulting in damages to one of the traffic signal poles and the equipment attached to the pole at the intersection. The responsible driver was identified and insurance company information was obtained for collection purposes. City staff repaired the damage to the pole and the attached signal equipment.
