Article II, Sections 5 and 6, of the Charter of the City of Norman provides for the Council to set by resolution in November the dates of the City Council Municipal and Runoff Elections for the following year.
The filing dates set by Charter for City Council races are the second Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of January (January 9-11, 2017). The 2017 elections will include Wards 1, 3, 5, and 7. Those candidates elected will take their oath of office and their terms will become effective in July, 2017.
