FINAL ACCEPTANCE AND FINAL PAYMENT OF CONTRACT K-1516-111 BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORMAN, OKLAHOMA, AND RDNJ, L.L.C., D/B/A A-TECH PAVING, FOR THE URBAN CONCRETE STREET PROJECT, FYE 2015 LOCATIONS, COMANCHE STREET FROM PORTER AVENUE TO PETERS AVENUE AND FROM LAHOMA AVENUE TO CHAUTAUQUA AVENUE.

 

Body

BACKGROUND:  In the Street Maintenance Bond Election of March 2010, voters approved $19 million in funding over a 5-year period for the purpose of maintenance and improvement of neighborhood streets throughout the city. The 2010 Street Maintenance Bond Program includes the following:

 

                     $8,250,000 (43%) for urban asphalt streets

                     $4,500,000 (24%) for urban concrete streets

                     $2,250,000 (12%) for rural roads

                     $4,000,000 (21%) for total reconstruction of urban streets

 

On April 20, 2016 the City Council awarded the Urban Concrete Street Project, FYE 2015 Locations to A-Tech Paving of Norman, OK in the amount of $329,620.  This contract included Comanche Street from Porter Avenue to Peters Avenue and Comanche Street from Lahoma Avenue to Chautauqua Avenue.  This project involved the removal and replacement of selected concrete panels, curb and gutter and sidewalk ramps that had deteriorated to an unacceptable condition.

 

DISCUSSION:  All work was completed per the contract specifications. Final quantities and costs for the project are detailed in the Payment Application. The final total cost of this project is $329,620. A-Tech Paving completed all work on March 31, 2017.  Funds are available in project BP0243 (Comanche St: (2 locations)), account number 050-9393-431.61-01 (Construction) to cover this final payment.

 

RECOMMENDATION:  Staff recommends final acceptance of the 2010 Bond Program, Urban Concrete Street Project, FYE 2015 Locations, Contract K-1516-111, and further recommends that final payment in the amount of $16,481.26 be directed to RDNJ dba A-Tech Paving of Oklahoma City, OK.
