Body
BACKGROUND: On October 13, 2015, Norman citizens passed the Norman Forward Initiative, which will fund various projects through a 1/2 % sales tax increase over 15 years. On July 9, 2019, the Norman Municipal Authority (NMA)/Council awarded a contract (K-1920-21) with American Ramp Company (ARC) as designer and builder for the new Blake Baldwin Skate Park. Several community input meetings were held to determine the design and configuration of the new all-concrete park currently being constructed in the northeast corner of Andrews Park. During the input meetings, skaters and parents expressed the desire to add lights around the skate surface in order to allow for extended opportunities to skate. This would be desirable in both wintertime (when it gets dark early) and in summer (when the temperatures cool off around and after sunset).
