BACKGROUND:  The Fire Administration Building was built in 1994.  With the City’s acquisition of the Smalley Center, the Fire Prevention Division has relocated to the Smalley Center (now Norman Investigations Center) freeing up space in the Administration Building.  This also provides an opportunity to remodel the building to better suit its current use, and to provide increased security for the employees working in the building.

DISCUSSION:  Plans were developed in November 2016.  They include plans for more efficiently using the available space by providing offices and meeting space, a file room for storage of records, updating fixtures and appliances, replacing inadequate lighting in some areas, painting the interior, replacing floor coverings, and installing security and access points.  The security includes the construction of an interior wall with a window and a buzz-in door.  This will create restricted access to the interior offices.

Bids were solicited in March 2017.  Four bids were received.  The low bidder was Caddell & Co., LLC of Norman, Oklahoma with a bid of $110,765.
